Diamond, known as Heera, is the gemstone of Venus, the planet of love, beauty, comfort and artistic refinement. It is worn to enhance charm, relationships, luxury and creative expression.

Venus is graceful and enjoys the good things in life, so Diamond is energized on Friday morning to line it up with Venus’ harmonious energy.

Beej Mantra

ॐ द्रां द्रीं द्रौं सः शुक्राय नमः

Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah

A salutation to Venus, the planet of love, beauty, luxury and refinement.

Chant 108 times (1 mala)

01

The right day, paksha and time

Diamond carries the energy of Venus (Shukra), so it awakens best when you energize it in tune with that planet. Choose the planet's own day, the right lunar fortnight, and a quiet hour, and the stone connects with you far more strongly.

  • Day: Friday.
  • Paksha (lunar fortnight): Shukla Paksha (waxing moon).
  • Time: Early morning, before sunrise. If you happen to know the planetary hour (hora) of Venus, choosing it is even better.
  • Keep ready: the Diamond set in platinum, white gold or silver, a clean copper or steel bowl, raw cow's milk and Gangajal, a ghee lamp (diya), incense, a few fresh flowers, and a mala to count on.

Bathe and put on fresh clothes before you begin, and sit facing east or north. Give yourself enough time so nothing feels hurried. The quiet, sincere feeling you hold matters just as much as the steps.

02

Purify the gemstone (Shuddhi)

  1. 1Place the Diamond in the bowl and cover it fully with raw cow's milk and Gangajal.
  2. 2Let it rest for a few hours. Many people leave it soaking overnight so it settles through the quiet hours before dawn.
  3. 3This gently washes away any dull or heavy energy the stone may have gathered while it was mined, cut and handled.
  4. 4Lift it out, rinse it with clean water (a final splash of Gangajal is lovely), and pat it dry with a soft, fresh cloth.

Please do not use soap, chemicals or an ultrasonic cleaner for this. Plain milk, water and Gangajal are all that tradition asks for.

03

Set up your sacred space (Sthapana)

  1. 1Spread a clean cloth on a low table or your altar and place your chosen deity, or a picture of them, upon it.
  2. 2Light the ghee lamp and the incense, and offer a few fresh flowers.
  3. 3Rest the purified Diamond in front of the lamp so its light falls softly on the stone.
  4. 4Sit comfortably facing east or north, with your back straight.
04

Awaken the planet's energy (Pran Pratishtha)

This is the heart of the ritual. You are inviting the living energy of Venus to settle into the stone. Take a few slow breaths, look at the Diamond, and quietly hold in mind why you want to wear it.

Now chant the beej (seed) mantra of Venus with full attention. One full mala, 108 repetitions, is the least you should do to energize it. Chant more if you have the time and the devotion.

ॐ द्रां द्रीं द्रौं सः शुक्राय नमः

Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah

A salutation to Venus, the planet of love, beauty, luxury and refinement.

Chant 108 times (1 mala)

Keep your eyes softly on the gemstone as you chant, and picture it filling with warm light. When the mala is done, cup the stone in your palms, touch it to your forehead, and ask the planet, in your own words, for its blessing.

05

Wearing your energized gemstone

  1. 1Wear the Diamond the same Friday, right after the ritual, while the energy is still fresh.
  2. 2It is usually worn on the middle or ring finger of the right (working) hand.
  3. 3Touch it first to the feet of your deity, or an elder you respect, then to your eyes, before you slip it on.
  4. 4Quietly promise yourself to keep it clean and to treat it with care.

If a natural Diamond is out of reach, an energized White Sapphire (Safed Pukhraj) is the traditional substitute for Venus.

06

Caring for your gemstone

  • Take it off for anything that could badly soil or knock the stone, and keep harsh chemicals away from it.
  • Wipe it clean now and then. If it has been off for a long while or feels dull, you can re-energize it briefly on the planet’s day.
  • Diamond is potent, and a poorly-suited Venus can tip into over-indulgence, so check the chart first.
  • Make sure the stone is natural, and not a synthetic or a look-alike.
07

Who should wear Diamond, and what it helps with

Diamond suits those looking to strengthen a benefic Venus, for relationships, the arts, and a life of comfort and grace. White Sapphire is the common, affordable substitute.

  • Linked with love, harmony and marital happiness
  • Traditionally supports beauty, charisma and refined taste
  • Connected to comfort, luxury and material well-being
  • Said to nurture artistic and creative talents

A stone this powerful is best worn only after your birth chart has been studied. The right gem strengthens you, while an unsuitable one can unsettle you, so when in doubt, please have your chart checked first.

Personal Guidance

Not sure which gem or Rudraksha suits you?

The right remedy depends on your birth chart. Have Sachin ji study your chart before you wear a powerful stone, so it strengthens you rather than unsettles you.
